Intermediate "acclimation" stop in "Camp Virginia," Kuwait enroute to Iraq

Approach into Kuwait. It all "came back" to me...

500 ft to go...

Bus ride to Camp Virginia

Thank goodness my niece and nephews gave me colored duct tape so I could easily identify my bags.

As Cecil put it, "barracks bunk-bed cot fest."

Our home for a week..."Pad-22-6"

My description would not do our outhouse justice.

This is it...

These tents were occupied up until at least 2009. We got lucky.

Yes, even a Mickey-Dees

Basketball anyone? With temps in the 120's? No thank you.

Volleyball courts

Even a Brett Favre jersey. Not a big seller.

These zanies ran in a 5K. 0600 was still hot. I was there to cheer them on!

Cecil and me with "required" belts.

Post-race Starbucks. Yes.

Checking out the "old digs"

Outhouses with beautiful sunset. Doesn't get any better than this.

Plenty of water on ice. Looks like a great party idea!

If you let your eyes "relax" you can see a dolphin jumping over the Empire State building.
