My home and "place of employment" while in Iraq

"Shelter" we are to take if there is "incoming fire."

Part of our compound aka "Freedom Village." Showers and bathrooms are down past the light stanchion.

10 foot barriers keep us safe. Trailers (CHUs) we live in are seen behind barriers.

Another shelter, conveniently located.

Oh, and plenty of "hot" water to go around...

Exercise facility. Its actually very nicely equipped. I guess I have no excuses.

One of Saddam's palaces I have to visit on a regular basis. This is the palace he was often photographed in that "big red chair."

"Can a blind man be a look-out?"

View from my office steps.

My office building.

Entrance to said-mentioned office.

Pay no attention to whatever goes on behind these doors...

Another view from my office door. I think its safe to say "swim at your own risk."

Ditto...

My walk from work to my CHU. Good to know your surroundings.

Just in case you feel like pumping out some pull-ups or dips while out and about.

View entering my "barri-gated" community.

A long walk back to my CHU

Another view of Freedom Village with tethered balloon (detects incoming fire) above.

Closes-up of said-mentioned Zeppelin

I have to find out the significance of "77."

Almost to my CHU

Drum roll, please...

My "home away from" home to right. A gal I work with is on the right. She's a Packer fan, but we still seem to get along ok.

View from my porch. Its not much, but...soon I will be moving to the US Embassy compound. I'm told its much nicer. Really?
